Undiscovered Fears
We were asked to write a sonnet as one of our English projects. I was originally supposed to make a happy one, but, whenever I tried, it didn’t turn out very well. I ended up with a somewhat sad sonnet, though I’m pretty satisfied with how it turned out. It seems a bit cluttered to me, but, then again, I’m not much of a poet, so I didn’t expect much from myself anyway.
Just a single thought, and out come the tears
Imagination’s no longer my friend
It only reveals undiscovered fears -
Fears that you may one day just slip away
And I weep from the possibility
I try not to let my mind go astray
And bring visions of our finality
A daydream often leads to a nightmare
And evil’s fabricated from what’s good
I know I’ve his love, his time and his care
Yet I see him do things he never would
Paranoia makes all that’s good so grim
That’s just how badly I fear losing him
It’s a Shakespearean sonnet, so it basically follows that form. I just didn’t have the time to follow the iambic pentameter – they don’t expect us to follow the form that strictly though.
I’m still going to try writing a happier sonnet. I’d rather not submit a gloomy poem, nor do I want to get used to writing these types of things. Poetry suddenly seems interesting, so I’ll write a new one for sure, even if I don’t need it for school. It just seems so convenient, being able to pour your heart out without revealing any details.
It just seems so much easier to write a sonnet than a blog post lately. I think it’s because we’re already given a form to follow with a sonnet, but, with a blog post, you’re just given so much freedom – which is a good thing of course, but hard to deal with when you’re not so inspired.
When you write it actually looks like you’re writing in notebook. :D
I like the sonnet. You have a way with words. :)Comment by Isi • October 3, 2010 • 9:58 pm
Firstly, I love this new layout. It’s so stunning. It’s honestly gorgeous! I love the colours and the navigation. It’s subtle but effective enough. I rarely see such wonderful designs on personal blogs. :) I think you have done a fantastic job.
I have never had experience writing a sonnet, but we were enlightened on iambic pentameter in high school – which wasn’t really a requirement or we didn’t need to know about it or anything. :P I love writing poems though, and mostly in free verse. I think yours is pretty good. :) Sometimes it’s nice to write about something different though. I’ve been enjoying writing poems for a while but most of them are contemplative. I have only a few humourous or “happy” ones.
Thank you! :) It’s a bit sad seeing a lot of blogs close but I won’t close mine; I love writing and interacting with visitors a lot.
I think it’s just become a complete addiction – opening so many websites and fanlistings and whatnot. I really need to cut down but I also think it’s an ongoing process, and I have to calm down a bit. At the same time I’m also trying to organise myself with my domains, which is one of the important things! :P

I don’t really think about it much either but my 30 day thing requires it lol. I hope i don’t turn into a bridezilla. They make me crack up on tv lol.

To begin with, your sonnet is very good. We had to do a similar assignment when I was a Senior in High School, but we had partners. I am pretty sure that we had to do a love one, and we had to keep Iambic pentameter. :P I think that I am going to try and write another one. :)

Ahhh lucky you. I just don’t see the point of daylight savings because in April we just change the clocks back in the opposite direction. Apparently it helps the farmers. I don’t think it benefits us at all!
I think that it has become a habit for me to press Ctrl+S all the time, ever since my old computer kept playing up on me. At Any moment it could freeze, so pressing Ctrl+S was my way of making sure I didn’t lose anything. :P
All our neighbours protect their wireless connections! I could probably find things to do without the internet, like reading, coding things on the computer, watching DVDs or even just writing or going out of the house. But you’re right, I also do many things on the computer that need the internet.

I love this part the most “A daydream often leads to a nightmare”. How true. Anyways, sorry I missed the previous post where you announced the new theme. I love the new theme. It’s very different from the last one. Yay for Halloween theme hehe. I should try and make a halloween theme too.
