The Charm
I’m sure you’ve already noticed the new layout (unless you’re new – in that case, welcome to my blog!). It’s quite different from my old one, but, of course, I have still kept the same trusty logo up there in the top-left corner! I’m a pretty fickle person so I may end up changing that logo soon (though I’m terrible at logos – so probably not).
I grew tired of my last layout soon after putting it up. I went to work on a new one almost immediately, though I found myself constantly changing my mind and starting on another one. After 2 failed attempts at making a decent layout, I finally came up with this one. Since I am terrible at names, and since ‘third time’s the charm’, I ended up calling this layout The Charm.
Aside from my getting sick of the design, I also made this layout because of the sudden, strange urge to have a tagline. The consequence of my productive procrastination isn’t much of a tagline, but I still kind of like it. Most of my writing and thinking is a result of my procrastination anyway, so I decided it fit the blog.
I’ve been loving color combinations with gray recently. I’m not sure why.
The transitions and rounded corners don’t work in Internet Explorer. I’ve pretty much given up on that browser already. It should still look fine there though.
The main font for this layout is Calibri, though the headers make use of GardensC.
This layout actually didn’t take too long if you just add the hours, but I did have to take a pretty long break between the designing part and the coding part because of school. There hasn’t been too much homework lately, so I decided that I might as well take advantage of the quick slow down of work.
As usual, feel free to criticize, compliment, whatever you may want to do. I’d also really appreciate it if you’d notify me of any errors in my coding so I could fix them while I still have the time.
Internet Explorer… sigh. Ah well. Things may not look pretty in it, like rounded corners (which is why I use them as images instead) but there isn’t much you can do. As long as they don’t play a huge part in the layout then it’s alright.
I like this layout, but to be honest I hate taglines most of the time. I’m probably going to be a huge hypocrite and make my own one day, but it’s just that the majority of the ones I see are really lame, like ‘the blog of a crazy twenty year old girl’. HAHA that sounds like me, but some of them are really very boring. That’s why I think of ones that are more like quotes or relate to my domain names… you might have noticed how common it is to have a “___ network” or “___ organisation” (mostly in the fanlisting biz).
Grey is a stunningly gorgeous colour, and I like that you chose this teal sort of colour to go with it. :D It all looks great!

Good job on the layout I like it. Very well designed as always. :)
I don’t think I’ve ever made a logo for my website. I have never thought of it.
I’ve been wanting to make a new layout myself. But I couldn’t figure one out. So I just didn’t try and decided to wait till I got some inspiration. But if I had applied your method, try till you get it, I might have gotten a new layout up way before now. Today, actually. I designed and codded one today. :D
I used to do tag lines. It was more like ocean spray @ openwings, if you can call that a tagline.
I tend to lean towards the gray color scheme myself. But since I’m bad with colors if it is gray my whole layout is gray shades. Not good.
I’m at the point of practically begging my family to boycott IE for me. Although I have to admit I IE9 was actually starting to get a smile from me, till I learned you can only operate it on Windows 7. Who thought that up?!
I love Calibri! And all those sans-serif fonts. :)

I’m sorry you can’t get the book. Hopefully one day. :)Comment by Cami • August 3, 2011 • 7:00 am
I like it. Grey is the new black in design and clothes design so you’re a trendsetter ;-)
I’m with Georgina on the colours and the like. I HATE IE, I use either Firefox or Safari, depending on which OS I am using at the time.

I think this theme is quite lovely! :) You did an awesome job on it. ;) I’ve grown to like grey for some reason lately. I’m not sure why, but it seems as though it can go with (pretty much) anything. :3

The theme looks good! It’s a nice change. I love when changes are somewhat drastic…like, the designer doesn’t keep the same structure or colors or anything. I mean, you kept the logo, but your logo is great. You shouldn’t make a new one. It’s very innovative.
As far as taglines go, I usually don’t even notice them. I used to try to make them for my resource site, but I grew to dislike them after very quickly and felt stuck with them. Yours is much better than most, though. I feel like most taglines sound the same, which is probably why I look past them.

Even though green is my most favorite color, teal is also really appealing. I love how you keep the simplicity with your layouts, and the tagline sounds great.
When I saw your site’s logo for the first time, I almost couldn’t understand what it was suppose to look like (I think I was half-asleep when I was checking out your site). It’s very clever. I just hovered over it now and easily became amused at how it faded.
