Procrastination
I’ve been putting off a lot of things for a while now…including listing them all down.
I thought it would be a good idea to blog about it because, a) knowing that others know about it will make me feel more pressured to actually do these things, and b) I told myself I’d answer all the questions I posted the other day.
Of the 11 questions I posted the other day, this one’s the first:
“Is there anything you’ve been putting off for a while? If yes, what is it, and why are you procrastinating so much?”
I’m sure most people procrastinate, but, honestly, writing it all down made me feel like such a pathetic excuse for a human being, not because of how much I’ve been procrastinating, but because of how much I don’t know because I procrastinate.
You’ll see what I mean when you read the first couple of things in the list.
Things I’ve Been Putting Off
Learning to Bike
Yes. You read right. I’m a 16 year old who doesn’t know how to bike. Laugh all you want; I’ve already laughed at myself for this so much that any more laughter has become insignificant.
It used to be the two of us – my brother and I – who didn’t know how to bike. Not just me. Up until that one summer day when he left the house for probably one or two hours, only to come back, suddenly knowing how to bike.
How did this happen? I don’t know. Point is, he knows how to bike, while I still don’t, even though I absolutely, absolutely should.
Learning to Cook
I’m starting to sound pretty pathetic to you, aren’t I?
The only thing I ever remember cooking is spam. You basically just fry it and it’s done, so that’s pretty much nothing.
I promised myself I’d learn to cook by the end of November. Let’s see if I actually keep that promise.
Scrapbooking
We have scrapbooks at home – a set for each of the children, including me, each made by my mom and I, who have both been procrastinating on this for years.
How many years?
Well, the last page I remember making was the one for New Year’s, year 2000.
That leaves us almost 12 years behind. Oops.
Cleaning
Specifically, cleaning my desk and my bags.o other place.
My desk has become that place where I put everything that has no other place. Basically, it is a dumpsite.
Also, I have this bad habit of leaving things inside my bags even when I’m done with them. I usually just tell myself I’d clean them out eventually (and I never do).
I procrastinate too much.
In fact, at this very moment, I’m using writing this blog post as an excuse not to clean my school bag (despite the fact that my mom has been asking me to clean it since I woke up).
I guess should stop writing now then (but I’ll probably find some other distraction almost immediately after leaving this laptop, wasting all the effort I just put into stopping myself from writing)

Learning to bike isn’t that hard. I think that you can definitely pull that one off if the weather lets you by the end of November. Learning to cook, on the other hand, is something that you learn gradually. You can definitely get a good start and begin to learn how to make things. I think that it’s well worth your time. :D
ClarisseOh, but, first, I need a bike to learn to bike on, haha. Plus the weather’s been pretty fickle lately anyway. Maybe I’ll try to learn during summer (which starts March here).

I remember I couldn’t bike till I was 7. My friend already knew how to, and I felt quite silly. I eventually got the hang of it (not that I do much of it now).
I can’t cook anything besides hard-boiled eggs and ramen. I haven’t tried making spam before.
I’m a neat-freak, so most of my things are neat (with the exception of my English binder. Gosh, the teacher doesn’t give things in specific categories so I end up stuffing all the papers in the side pockets).
I put off a lot of things, but I hate to do it. I love to get things done. Call me a procrastinating workaholic (<– oxymoron).
I've been putting off organizing all the files in my computer. They're all so jumbled… Especially my music folder.
I'm currently putting off my English project to reply to comments.
I'm also putting off bio-cramming because I didn't pay attention in class (not that I don't already know the stuff. I read the textbook, but my teacher's voice is just like… you know. One of those teachers with voices that can put ya' right to sleep).
Another thing I'm putting off is memorizing a few piano pieces. Ugh.
And a drawing commission.
And 3 layouts I have to code.
I've been putting off anything that's been causing me stress.

Have you been doing a lot of procrastinating lately?
Doing any of my college school work. Though, I haven’t procrastinated on it much because things are due weekly, I still count it as procrastination. What is your source of procrastination?
The fact that I am so darn lazy. LOL.Don’t worry, I don’t know how to cook spaghetti. OH! That sounds yummy! :) lol. We haven’t had dinner yet because it is almost 5p now. XD
I need to learn how to cook…I really do but ehhh…procrastination takes over. There’s nothing really else I’m procrastinating….Lol. I guess I’m not as bad as I thought I was. XD

YAY! I can’t wait to see what you do with your blog! Even if it is just blogging. :DThanks. :D
Yeah, I need to start doing that. Lol. You gotta learn someway or another. :)
At least I know I’m not alone. <3
Thanks. :)

One of the main reasons I tell people things is just because having them knowing gives me a little bit more motivation. It works maybe 50% of the time.
I’m not laughing: some people just don’t need to learn how to ride a bike! A friend in my year only learned when she was fourteen, which isn’t that much younger than you: she just never had a bike so never learned. The good thing about cycling is that when you learn how to ride a bike you never really forget how to do it.
As for cooking, I think it just takes practice. I guess I would say that I can cook a little – I can’t exactly do three course meals but I can do desserts and a few main courses. And soup. *bounces*
My desk/bedside table/floor is also a rubbish heap. Well, more like a heap of useless shit, but you know…
Have you been doing a lot of procrastinating lately? What are you procrastinating on? What is your source of procrastination?
I think I’ve been procrastinating a fair bit because I have the time to – I’m off school for this week, see. I find that at school, when I have less time, I am more motivated to do things just to get them done and have a smidgeon of free time at the end of the day. Obviously since it is the holiday I have a whole day that I can spend telling myself I’ll do it later… oops.
I’m procrastinating on returning comments (as always, ack), small little things that need doing like processing some photos and cleaning some bits and pieces, and also writing… damn writer’s block.
Take care! xx
Around here almost everyone knows how to bike (though I know a couple of other people who don’t, hehe). I guess it’s because I live in the suburbs (which I love, btw).
I only started returning comments like a week ago, haha. I’ve probably returned more comments now than in the month or two before now, haha.

My boyfriend doesn’t know how to ride a bike either, and he’s 25. He’ll have to learn though, if he wants to move here (the Netherlands, also known as The Land Of Bikes).
My desk is like yours; a dumping ground for all things placeless =P I should really clean out my room in general, but I convinced myself I’m too busy studying for finals (I’m not, really…)
