Preschool vs High School

Summer has been awesome. These last few weeks, I’ve been in the best mood I’ve been in months. I’ve just been this ball of positive energy. I cleaned my entire closet, baked a ton of cookies, wrote a few blog posts (as well as several half-written drafts), almost finished Pokemon Black and read about 4 books, all in the past week or so. This is a lot considering how long I’ve been putting off cleaning my closet, how I never really bake, how I’ve been so uninspired to write during school, how I’ve never finished a single Pokemon game (I kinda chicken out near the end) and how I’ve barely read anything the past couple of years. It’s awesome, to say the least.

Unfortunately, all of that can’t last forever. The beginning of school is slowly creeping up on us, and while enrollment today has only been a harsh reminder of this inevitability, it’s been a huge downer on things. New books. New uniforms. Ew. The only thing I ever really look forward to is the release of the class lists, which always come out way too late; by then school would just be a few weeks away, at the most, and the excitement of finding out my class would be completely overshadowed by the nerves that come with school.

Come June, I’m sure my twin brother and I would already be depressed. My other brother, on the other hand, would probably be excited. Being 10 years younger than the 2 of us, this would be his first time entering the “big school”. He’s been talking about it for months. When I looked at both our school requirements, I was instantly jealous of him. Compare:

Little brother’s requirements: books, notebooks, crayons, pastels, colored construction paper, writing materials
Our requirements: books, notebooks, more books, math notebooks, even more books, writing materials

It’s easy to predict that he’s going to have a lot of fun. As for the two of us – I can tell we’re in for a whole lot of boring. Oh, joy.

I’m glad you’ve been in a good mood! It’s always nice to feel like that, and to be motivated to get things done. Unfortunately, that doesn’t happen often for me. XD

Preschool does seem a lot easier than high school, but I guess that’s how it’s supposed to be. Obviously in high school, you’re working towards things, trying to get the grades you need for whatever you want to do etc. Preschool is supposed to be fun so it doesn’t “scare” you for what it will be like high school. I don’t know, that’s my theory anyway. :P

I used to love shopping for stationary before the start of school; it was the only thing I did look forward to. I’m so glad I’ve finished school!

I’m sure it’ll be fine though. :)

I still find it interesting how life is “upside down” depending on where you live. I mean, for me I am excited because I only have a couple of weeks of school left and then I can begin my summer vacation. And allthough I have to work during that time, it’s still sooo much easier not to worry about homework and exams. And don’t worry, for me when Autumn comes, I’m sort of excited to go back to school because it gives your days some “structure”. Plus I just like autumn :P

I’m glad you got so much done! The other day I felt good about getting so much done after procrastinating so much. I didn’t want to just laze around on my break. Now that I’m back at university under quite a bit of stress I am glad that I did get that stuff done beforehand. :)

I don’t usually look forward to many things when school begins. I used to love shopping for new stationery and books every year. We had a required list of items as well but it all got boring… I eventually lost interest in shopping for stationery. Sometimes I do want to go back to preschool when things were so much easier and we generally just had more fun. Then again I don’t mind too much being in university… we can only go forward.

I end university for the semester on the 10th June, but I chose to take winter [Australian] classes so a week later I’m back to class… :P

Hey! You start school…. in June?? O_o
Haha, June 22 is my last day of school! Next year is college! :D Can’t wait.

POKEMON! I remember that game. It used to be huge when I was younger. I had like… hundreds of cards. Ah, good times

Your summer break seems so short! I swear I just read about you beginning it. Maybe time is just going by very quickly.

Ah, I miss the days where crayons were on the school supply list. Now I don’t even get lists. My mom always spazzes before the year starts because she wants to buy all my supplies while they’re on sale, but I never know what I need until I get there. We have so many notebooks and pencils and packs of loose leaf. She just buys them by the ton every year.

Even though school sucks, at least you know you had a good summer. I hate summers where I feel like I didn’t do half the things I wanted to at the end.

Did you enjoy Pokemon Black, by the way? I’m so tempted to buy it, but I’ve never played a Pokemon game with more than the original 250 pokemon. >.<

I’ve been lazy lately because I’m getting ready to graduate high school. I really need to clean my room, too. But we’re having less homework lately since it’s so close to the end, so hopefully I’ll have more time and motivation to do…anything, really.

Don’t even remind me about pre-school. :’(
