Pleasant Surprise
The best part of my last layout was the header. I loved it, a lot of you said you liked the concept, so I decided to make it my blog’s logo, at least for now. I like having something that defines my blog, so at least I have that. Now I can change my layouts as often as I want without worrying that my visitors won’t recognize it or think that they’re in the wrong website. I don’t know of anyone who’s ever gotten confused with my layout changes, but, for some reason, I always worry about that. I can be a bit paranoid.
Anyway, I have a new layout up, and that is extremely good news, considering how long I’ve been trying to make a new layout. These past few months, I’ve tried and failed several times in designing a decent ones, with about 6 unfinished layouts and countless unused ideas just lying here in my laptop. They all look terrible. I’ve also been trying to learn some HTML5 and CSS3, something I’ve been constantly putting off, only using the occassional @font_face and coding a few rounded borders. It’s unlike me to not want to code, so I was worried. Then, suddenly, I just felt like designing something and this came to be. That explains the name of the layout. I was just so happy to be back to web designing again! Also, I couldn’t think of a better name.
As you can see, I’ve finally gotten the hang of modern coding, with some fading animations and text and box shadows here and there. It’s still pretty heavy on images though, since I still want it to look good on older versions of browsers (or Netscape – I thought nobody used that anymore, but I’m pretty sure I saw it in the other day when I was looking at my Awstats), paranoia acting up again. The fonts, though, are regular fonts – two of my old favorites, Rockwell (Condensed) and Georgia.
When I’m in a really good mood, I make layouts pretty quick. For example, this theme took me all of 3 days to design, code and make WordPress-ready. I even managed to stop procrastinating and make a past layouts page, as well as rewrite a few blog pages while I was at it (namely, the “about” and owner pages). I’m not going to waste all this sudden inspiration, so I’ll hopefully have my themes site up again soon, with a few more themes coming up soon after, hopefully.
Feel free to tell me if there may be any theme errors in your browser so I can fix it up as soon as possible.
I’m sorry for such a messy post. It’s all over the place, I know. I’ll have a regular blog up in 1 or 2 days, so hopefully that will make up for it!
