“But you guys are so different!”

I consider me and my boyfriend to be near complete opposites; him being as extroverted as I am introverted, as noisy as I am quiet, as fun as I am boring, as uninterested in reading and writing as I am interested, as free-spirited as I am uptight – a bunch of things.… (read more)

Boyfriends Are Not Trophies

I’m sure most of you girls have certain expectations for your ‘dream guy’. Whether consciously or not, it’s hard not to make those little checklists in your mind. I would know. I’m not going to lie to you in saying that I’ve never been guilty of the same thing. I was close-minded back then, telling myself to follow those guidelines the best I could because, back then, I thought that a man that wasn’t like that just wasn’t worth it.… (read more)

Forcing Hate

Everyone has the right to love and hate, but one thing I don’t understand is why some people tend to go against what’s “in” just for the sake of it. It’s a pretty stupid way to be unique, if that’s what they’re going for. To reject a person or an idea simply because it is popular – and they’re all so proud of it too.… (read more)

Rejection

I’m a big believer in the saying ‘everything happens for a reason’. I’m not abnormal. Bad things happen to me, I get upset. I cry. I let my emotions take over. But once I recover from all that, once my sanity returns to me, I make it a point to try to look at the positives.… (read more)

“Torpe”

One of the most common complaints I hear from girls here is that guys are always too torpe. Torpe is Filipino slang for a guy who is too scared to court a girl, too ignorant to realize the girl actually does like him back or just too awkward to do anything about his affection towards this girl.… (read more)

“She can do so much better.”

I don’t know how many times I was just sitting down, having a good conversation with a friend, when suddenly someone comes up and she says something like, “Oh, he’s with ________ right? She can do so much better than him.” At the same time, there are also a lot of people see me with my boyfriend and just point-blank, to his face, say, “She’s too good for you.… (read more)

“Don’t take it too seriously.”

I’m sick of the color blue. I’m sick of people comparing Twilight with Harry Potter. I’m sick of hearing Justin Bieber songs. I’m sick of teachers who don’t teach. I’m sick of people who think they’re better than everyone. I’m sick of a lot of things, but there’s one thing in particular that has just been so irritating to me – people telling me that high school relationships don’t last.… (read more)

Decline In Music Standards

In this day and age – with all the music videos, photoshoots and T.V. exposure – to be a musician, you need to have much more than an amazing voice; you need to have the looks too. Because of this, appearance ends up being given more importance than it should, and talent becomes less of a priority.… (read more)
