Denimized
Because I’m in such a good mood now, I was finally able to get the inspiration I needed to finish coding my layout. Obviously, I finished it.
I’m going to miss my old layout, Vintage, and all it’s textured glory. I was never that good at textured layouts, but I really loved that one. You can see a full sized printscreen of it if you want but remember that when I say full sized, I really do mean full sized. I’m very sorry if it makes your computer hang or something.
I am terrible with layout names, so excuse the strange post title. I also did a few other strange things with this layout – things I’m not that used to doing.
It was originally gonna be the same colors as my old layout. I realized that I definitely didn’t want to do that, so I switched the main color with a color I haven’t used in a long time – blue. I haven’t been making any blue layouts simply because I was sick of the color blue. Blue is everywhere. My room is blue; my brother’s room is blue; my other brother’s room is blue; Firefox, Yahoo! Messenger and many other programs I use are blue (at least by default); WordPress always has at least a little bit of blue, even when you set the admin color scheme to gray. Basically, a lot of things are blue, and I got tired of seeing it all the time. I decided to use it this time since I wanted to do something different. How ironic.
You may have noticed that I’m using sidebars – two of them, actually. I haven’t used sidebars in a very long time. I felt that they weren’t needed in blogs since they usually didn’t require too much navigation. I’ve been making single-column layouts for the longest time; aside from the things mentioned, I also just found them so much easier to design for. I didn’t mean to make a three-column layout; it was an accident. Luckily, it turned out okay (well, in my opinion).
Besides revisiting things that I’ve been avoiding for, probably, a year, I also experimented with a few new things. I never really got around to trying out CSS3, though I used the text-shadow property in my last layout. With this layout, I tried out text-shadow again for the link hovers, but I also used border-radius for the sidebars. The borders won’t be rounded in some other browsers though, but, honestly, I don’t even give a damn about Internet Explorer anymore.
I did do a lot of new things with this layout, but, for the main font, I stuck with a personal favorite of mine – Georgia. As for the header text, I used Rockwell. As usual, I used Notepad and Adobe Photoshop for the design. I’d also like to thank CSS3.Info and Colour Trails for the CSS3 tutorials.
I embrace crticism (as long as it’s not said too harshly) so please don’t hesitate to tell me what you think of the new layout. Also, tell me if you see any errors or anything I’ve overlooked, and I’ll get to it at once!
I’m in love with this layout. It’s perrrrrfect! I don’t know, but I feel this layout is better than your previous one. I love the colors! Blue happens to be one of my favorite colors, so that’s a thumbs up (:
About the errors, your links page isn’t working. Um, is the text under ‘Welcome’ also yellow? I mean, the header ‘Welcome’ is yellow so is the description.. maybe you’d like to change that? I’m just pointing out since you asked for some ‘suggestions’ xD
Overall, I LOVE THIS LAYOUT <33 And your layout made me jump with happiness for some unknown reason! :D

I love this layout! Man, I get so excited when other people put up new layouts. I think this one is exceptional. I loved your last one for all the textures but this itself has textures! I love how you kept the background simple as well, to balance it out nicely.
I like the full screenshot haha. My laptop didn’t have a heart attack though, so it’s all good.
I really like the different in the layout! I think you’re very good with CSS. I’m not really liking the text on the denim but I guess there isn’t much you can do about that.
Overall, a really good job and a nice change with the sidebars and colours. I especially love the site name. My only complaint would be the text being hard to read. I love the colour, blue is definitely one of my favourite colours.
Aha you’re right, thank you Clarisse! I guess if I really was that boring, I’d have nothing to blog about or many websites/ideas. XD
It IS difficult and I’m glad you admit it too. Trying to stay off the computer is like trying to cut yourself out of a swinging potato sack – okay, don’t ask why I made any such reference. XD
I taught myself the guitar, no reason why you can’t either! :3
Aw I get regular mood swings in a single day… especially at home. If I’m out with friends or at uni, my mood doesn’t fluctuate too much.
I don’t think – well, recently anyway – I’ve tried to force myself out of the internet. I know it’s kind of impossible for me. XD

yeah true, I can say no when people start taking advantage of me, but when its once every few months or so, then I can’t say no, or I feel like I can’t.
well he has a family now, so its not as easy as it used to be. I’m more angry about when they were first dating and no baby involved- he just totally blew me off; i guess it wasnt cool of him to hang around his baby sister anymore…
I’m the same way, I’m a diffrent person when I’m around people I know and feel comfortable around, but as soon as theres someone i don’t know around, I shut up and they think I NEVER talk lol. (talk to me and i’ll talk to you- which i need to change if i wanna get to meet new people lol)yeah, blue is over used at times, but i have to admit, i love this shade that you have used, it looks really nice! I don’t normally use layouts without sidebars, but i was looking for a change- looks like we have switched haha!
I hate IE, its crap, nothing works in that browser lol. as i said above, the layout looks great :DComment by Kayt • June 28, 2010 • 12:22 am
I love the new layout. :O It’s so original, using denim as the theme.
I can’t criticize this layout because it’s too perfect. Even though the round edges don’t work in my browser (Opera), it still looks amazing.I’ve heard of CSS3 but I never really tried it.
