Blog Action Day: Food

It’s blog action day today, so I decided joining again this year would be a good way to kind of forcibly thrust myself back into the whole blogging world because I’ve missed it so, so much.

Last year, blog action day was all about water, and I remember my post being boring and impersonal, so I’ll try to avoid that this year.

This year, blog action day revolves around food.

When I think about food, I think about cheese. I absolutely love cheese; it’s my favorite sandwich component, it’s my favorite type of cake, my favorite type of ice cream – it’s basically just my favorite food in general.

However, I’m not going to be talking about cheese in this blog post. In fact, this blog post has absolutely nothing to do with food that I like. Instead, I’ll be talking about food that I don’t like.

A lot of people would say that I’m a picky eater, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. You can imagine how hard it is to eat at other people’s houses or parties though when basically every food you hate is food everybody else loves.

Food I don’t like

Anything from Mcdonald’s

Most people I know eat at Mcdonald’s at least once a week. I, on the other hand, try to avoid it, and all other fast food chains, as much as possible.

It’s not like I’m trying to lose weight. I’m actually trying to gain weight.

It’s not like I’m one of those health nuts. I care enough about my health, but I don’t obsess over it.

It’s just that fast food isn’t real food, and it disgusts me. I only eat from Mcdonalds when I’m really hungry (just because it’s location is so convenient).

Soda

I don’t particularly hate soda. I did notice just recently that I don’t particularly like it either. I only remember drinking soda two or three times this 2011. I guess I’m just not a soda person.

Gum

This, I’ve never liked. Ever. When I think of food, I think of something that can be swallowed or dissolved, so when I put something in my mouth that doesn’t want to go away no matter how much I chew, it literally makes me want to puke.

Weirdly Textured Food

Many don’t believe me when I say I hate spaghetti, but it’s true; I hate spaghetti. I also hate risotto and champorado – and for the same reason.

It just feels gross to me. They’re like slimy yet basically solid types of food that have little lumps in them, and my tongue just can’t take how disgusting it feels.

Anything with Bones

I never finish my chicken when I eat it, so I used to think that I didn’t like chicken.

In reality though, I was just paranoid.

I get paranoid a lot, and, apparently, it shows in my eating habits. I never finish chicken because I’m always so afraid of accidentally swallowing bone. Boneless chicken, though, I gobble right up.

I don’t hate chicken then. I actually love chicken.

Ketchup

I’m sure a lot of you are going to get mad at me for this one, and, I’m sorry, but I’ve just never liked ketchup. I don’t have any long explanation for this or anything; I just don’t like it.

Are you participating in this year’s Blog Action Day? Are you picky when it comes to food? What food don’t you like? What food do you like? Why? Comment below!

Haha I think I may just participate in this one day this month if I don’t have anything else to blog about. I am really quite surprised your don’t like spaghetti and ketchup. But then again, I’ve known that spaghetti can be cooked in many different ways. The Italians originally meant to have it very slimy, wet, like noodles. I like noodles, but slimy spaghetti just seems very gross. The Western equivalent is chewier. Any chance that you might have just been having some horridly slimy spaghetti? :P

I don’t mind things with bones, such as chicken and fish, but stuff with shells gets on my nerves. I had to eat lobster at a restaurant recently and I just couldn’t deal with it. I don’t mind using my hands if I have to, but in a public place… no. I do love fish and chicken though. :)

I feel we have quite a bit in common regarding hated foods. I don’t like McDonald’s anymore, it’s just very gross and I feel like it sits in my stomach and makes me feel bad afterwards. It’s not healthy and I would very much rather a salad or sushi.

I have hated soda for the past decade. It’s just uncomfortable to drink because of the gas, and the sweetness tastes so fake. ;_; If I want a sweet drink I’ll go for sweet tea or something at least a bit natural.

There’s one thing I don’t like that many people don’t believe I hate: pizza. :P It’s just oily and gross and thick and horrid, I hate it just as much as you hate spaghetti I guess. :P

I could just copy this whole comment into a blog post haha!

It’s not the sliminess really…it’s the little meat bits that ruin everything. I’m fine with spaghetti without those, but i don’t think that’s spaghetti anymore.

I hate using my hands to eat food, especially when it’s oily, cause then I’d feel like I’d have to wash my hands like every 5 seconds.

I don’t like the oiliness of pizza on my hands, so I always eat pizza with a fork and knife, but I do love pizza in general, haha. It’s pretty hard to believe you don’t, haha.

There are a few times I’ve commented and felt that way about my comment, haha.

Oh my god I can’t believe I forgot to mention this… but I love cheese too. I love it SO much, I could eat blocks of it at once. Unfortunately I don’t have too much of it anymore because I have high cholesterol and should really keep cheese out of my diet, or in minimal amounts. It makes it more enjoyable when I have it though, eee.

I love eating cheese alone too! It’s too bad you can’t eat too much of it though. At least you can still eat it though, either way!

Cheese is amazing! I do not understand the people that don’t like cheese and feel sorry for those who are lactose intolerant.

As for the rest of the choices, I have to say that I agree with you on everything except for the spaghetti. Actually, you might like whole wheat pasta/spaghetti if you haven’t tried it yet. It tastes a little bit different, but lacks the sliminess. Down with McDonald’s!

I like eating in McDonald’s =)))) I love their eating fries specifically their twister fries+ coke float!

I love cheese. I love the different tastes and textures it can come in!

I really hate meat that’s not 100% the same texture. I don’t like seeing veins, jelly bones, or bones in my meat (and that is why I don’t really eat meat that much).
I’m a veggie killer.

I don’t really like McDonalds either. My brother will not eat anything. My mother tries to bribe him with some fast food (note, my brother’s a stick…), and it works around half of the time.
I don’t like greasy foods either. They make me sick. o__o

I’ve seen some people put ketchup in their rice before. I like ketchup on like… fries, or eggs. But rice is just… ugh.

Take care~ ^_^
