In The Dark

I’ve always loved Jojo; I used to be such a huge fan of her. I say “used to be” because it seems she’s drifted away from the artist she used to be – the artist who whose success was based on pure talent, who wasn’t just trying to be like everyone else.

Yesterday night, I listened to Jojo’s newest song, “In The Dark” on Rap-Up.com. I’ve been waiting so long for her comeback – it must’ve been like 3 or 4 years already – and when she actually returns, I get disappointed.

This song isn’t her. This song doesn’t showcase her amazing voice or unbelievable range; it just made Jojo sound like everyone else – singers who think auto-tuning is a proper replacement for talent. Except, unlike everyone else, she actually does have talent and doesn’t need all this extra editing. I probably wouldn’t even be typing this post she … (read more)

What Defines The Decade

When you think of the 60′s, 70′s or 80′s, specific music, fashion and trends come to mind, whether it be hippies, disco or “big hair”, there will always be something.

It makes me wonder; as the years go by, what would the years 2000-2009 be associated with? How about the years 2010-2019? Like The Beatles for the 1960′s, what musician or band will always be linked to our time? Would it be Britney, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga or someone else? What kinds of clothes would come to mind?

What would they be called? The “zeros”? The “tens”? The early 21st century? The after-early 21st century?

It’s hard to tell because, living in the year 2010, it’s hard to imagine not living in it. It’s hard to see what might seem different in the future because we’re just so used to things the way they are.

Maybe in about 10 years … (read more)

A Humiliating Week For The Philippines

I’m sure a lot of you guys have heard about the hostage taking in the Philippines last Monday. In case you didn’t know, a former police officer, Rolando Mendoza took over a tourist bus. I’d rather not go into details, so if you want to know more details, you can read about it on Inquirer.net.

Watching it live, I tweeted and tweeted, and so did everyone else I knew. Twitter was abuzz with worry, anger and anxiousness that day.

We were mostly complaining about our S.W.A.T. team’s poor performance. First of all, they were just standing there, right beside the bus, for just the longest time. Eventually, they did something though. They tried breaking the windows with a sledgehammer, but, in doing so, they accidentally made the sledgehammer fall inside. They also kept throwing in teargas and flashbombs, but they didn’t go in after. Isn’t that supposed to be a … (read more)

Bragging Rights

There will always be boastful people out there – people who are way too proud of their own success and achievements and feel the need to tell everyone around them about all these things. I don’t blame them for being happy about their accomplishments. It’s only natural. Some people just overdo it.

While these types of people do annoy me, what annoys me even more are the people who imagine themselves to be more talented than they really are – the ones who let the tiniest achievements get to their heads, who let the tiniest bit of talent make them start thinking they’re all-that. Those are the people that really, really piss me off.

They get overexcited about every single one of their insignificant accomplishments and go around bragging about these things to everybody as if they were so incredible. They get big-headed, without the talent or skills to back … (read more)

Rest Weekend

Ah, WordPress, how I’ve missed you! It’s only been a bit more than a week, but it felt like such a long time. I apologize for the senseless posts about my schoolwork (including this one) and the unannounced hiatus – not that I’d want to become one of those people who post on their blog just for that. I hate posts like this, but let me just help you catch up on what’s been happening in my life and shed some light on the reasons for my sudden withdrawal from the online world.

As I’ve been saying over and over again both here and in my Twitter account, I’ve been overloaded with projects. This week alone, I have submitted 3 already, with 5 left to go. This year, they’ve been giving more priority to our projects (it’s an experimental new curriculum) and I hate it. It’s just too much. My … (read more)
